How to change an image's DPI
- Add your JPG or PNG.
- Type the DPI you need, such as 300.
- Press Change the DPI and download the file.
Good to know
- Changing DPI does not change the number of pixels or how the picture looks on a screen. It only affects how large a program prints it.
- Because only the label changes, the picture is not re-encoded. There is no extra compression and the quality is identical.
- If you need a specific pixel size as well, use the centimetre resizer, which does both.
Questions
Does a higher DPI mean better quality?
No. DPI does not add detail. A 1000 pixel wide picture is the same 1000 pixels at 72 DPI or 600 DPI. Only the print size changes.
Why do some sites ask for 300 DPI?
They want enough pixels for a sharp print at a given physical size. Check the pixel dimensions too, because that is the real requirement.
Is a WEBP file supported?
WEBP cannot store a DPI value, so it is converted to PNG first, which can.
