How to compress images online
- Drop your pictures into the box, or press Choose images.
- Pick a quality. 70 is a good first try for photos, and you can go lower for small thumbnails.
- Press Compress images, then download each file or all of them as one ZIP.
Good to know
- Quality 60 to 80 is the sweet spot for photos. Below about 50 you will start to see blocky edges.
- Most of the saving comes from the format, not the slider. A PNG photo saved as JPG is often a tenth of the size.
- If a file is already well compressed, it is returned untouched rather than made bigger.
Questions
Are my pictures uploaded?
No. The compression runs in your browser using your own device. The pictures are never sent to a server.
Will it reduce the quality?
JPG and WEBP are lossy, so a little detail is traded for size. At quality 70 to 80 the difference is rarely visible on screen.
Why did my PNG barely shrink?
PNG is lossless, so saving it as PNG again cannot remove much. Choose JPG or WEBP for a real saving, keeping in mind that those do not support transparency in the same way.
