How to resize images online
- Add one or more pictures. The first one fills in the current size.
- Type a new width or height. With proportions kept, the other number follows.
- Press Resize images and download the results.
Good to know
- Shrinking looks good. Enlarging cannot add detail, so a picture made much bigger will look soft.
- Resizing is done in steps, halving first and then fitting, which gives cleaner results than one big jump.
- To change a picture to a printed size such as 10 by 15 cm, use the centimetre resizer, which also sets the DPI.
Questions
Will resizing reduce the quality?
Making a picture smaller keeps it sharp. Making it much larger makes it soft. The file format keeps its own compression setting.
What does 'keep the proportions' do?
It stops the picture being squashed or stretched by always changing width and height together.
Can I resize many pictures at the same time?
Yes, up to fifty. With proportions kept, each fits within the size you give.
