How to view the hidden data in a photo
- Add a photo, ideally straight from a phone or camera.
- Read what is stored: camera, lens, date, settings and any location.
- If you do not want to share that, press the button to download a clean copy.
Good to know
- A photo taken at home with location services on can reveal your address to anyone who receives the original file.
- Most social networks strip this data when you post, but email, messaging apps and forums often do not.
- Cleaning keeps your picture sharp. For JPG files, only the hidden data blocks are cut out and the pixels are not touched.
Questions
What is EXIF?
A block of information a camera or phone writes into a photo: make, model, date, exposure and often GPS coordinates.
Is it safe to open my photo here?
Yes. It is read on your device and not uploaded, which for a tool like this is the whole point.
Why does my screenshot show nothing?
Screenshots and edited pictures rarely carry any. Many apps remove it on export.
