How to remove metadata from photos
- Add your photos.
- Press Remove the metadata.
- Download the clean copies.
Good to know
- For JPG files the hidden blocks are cut out directly, so the picture is not re-compressed and quality is exactly the same.
- If a JPG relies on its orientation tag to display upright, it is redrawn so the orientation is baked in before the tag is removed.
- PNG and WEBP are redrawn, which removes any metadata they carried.
Questions
What gets removed?
Camera, lens, date, software, copyright text and GPS location, plus any other hidden blocks.
Does it lower the quality?
Not for upright JPG files. They are edited without re-compressing. Others are redrawn at high quality.
Does it remove the colour profile?
Yes. In rare cases a wide-gamut photo may look slightly less vivid afterwards.
