How to convert JPG to PNG
- Add your JPG files.
- Check the output format and quality.
- Press the button and download the converted files.
Good to know
- The PNG will be larger than the JPG. That is expected: PNG stores every pixel exactly.
- Converting does not bring back detail the JPG already lost. It stops any further loss.
- A JPG has no transparency, so the PNG will not either, unless you edit it afterwards.
Questions
Why is the PNG so much bigger?
JPG throws away fine detail to save space, while PNG keeps everything. A photo can be five to ten times larger as a PNG.
Will the quality improve?
No. The picture looks identical. What changes is that saving it again will not degrade it further.
When should I use PNG instead of JPG?
For logos, screenshots, text and anything with sharp edges or transparency. For photographs, JPG is usually better.
