How to compress an image to 100 KB
- Add your picture.
- The target is already set to 100 KB. Change it if you need a different size.
- Press the button. The tool tries qualities and, if needed, smaller dimensions until the file fits.
- Download the result and check it before you upload it.
Good to know
- A photo around 800 pixels wide usually keeps good quality at 100 KB.
- Photographs of documents are harder. Text needs sharp edges, so keep the dimensions up and let the quality drop a little instead.
- WEBP gets noticeably better quality than JPG at this size, if the site accepts it.
Questions
Is 100 KB the same as 0.1 MB?
Roughly. A kilobyte is 1024 bytes, so 100 KB is 102,400 bytes, a little under a tenth of a megabyte.
Will text in a scanned document stay readable?
Usually, but check it. If the text goes soft, scan at a lower resolution and a higher JPG quality rather than the other way round.
Can I do several pictures at once?
Yes. Add as many as you like and download them together as a ZIP.
