How to compress an image to 200 KB
- Add your picture.
- The target is already set to 200 KB. Change it if you need a different size.
- Press the button. The tool tries qualities and, if needed, smaller dimensions until the file fits.
- Download the result and check it before you upload it.
Good to know
- Most phone photos need to come down from several megabytes, so the tool will usually shrink the dimensions slightly as well.
- For scanned pages, keep the file as a JPG. Text survives JPG at 200 KB far better than a photo of a busy scene.
- Check the result at full size before uploading. What looks fine in a preview can show artefacts when the form zooms in.
Questions
Will 200 KB keep a page of text readable?
A standard A4 scan at around 1200 pixels tall is usually readable at this size, but dense small print may soften.
Why does a smaller picture sometimes come out of a big one?
The tool only shrinks the dimensions when quality alone cannot reach the limit. It always prefers to keep the pixels.
Does my original change?
No. Your original file is never modified. The compressed copy is a new download.
